This book resulted from a trip aboard the research ship, HMS Gould, where Lucia and author Meredith traveled in Antarctica with geologists and seismologists, learning from them as they studied the islands. We tend to think of islands as staying in one place but, like all the land-masses on earth, islands move. 150 millions years ago, a large chunk of Gondwanaland became detached and sailed away south to form Antarctica. The story follows the progress of this travelling land-mass, part of which broke away to form an island which is now located on the Antarctic Peninsula . 32 pages; 21.4 x 27 cm.; format: Hardcover; Publisher: Frances Lincoln, U.K. and Viking, U.S.
